ABOUT DAVE GIFFORD

In 1994 I received my Masters Degree in Counseling from Denver Seminary. From 1995 to 2014, I served as a Pastor and Counselor at[a lifestyle photographer] Northern Hills Christian Church in Brighton Colorado. In that time I had many roles including Single’s Ministry Leader, Divorce Recovery Leader, Support Group Leader, Men’s Ministry Director, Pastor of Small Groups, and Pastoral Care.  I also provided professional counseling services to the church and surrounding community members.  From October of 2014 to June of 2016 I served full time as an addiction’s counselor for the Salvation Army’s “Harbor Light Relapse Prevention Program” in downtown Denver Colorado.  In January of 2014 I started my own counseling business called “Life Stream Counseling”, which I currently still operate today.  In addition to Life Stream, I am also currently employed as a counselor with “Kidstuff Child and Family Counseling” in Greeley Colorado.  I have always had a heart to reach out and help those who are hurting or in need of support with the various issues that life confronts us with.  I have over 6000 hours of counseling experience with individuals, couples, and families.

My emphasis in counseling is to identify and uncover underlying patterns that create destructive behaviors and cause the emotional or relational concerns of clients. I have had much success helping individuals using this cognitive restructuring approach.

When working with couples or families it is important that joint therapy goals are established, including necessary individual goals for behavior change.  Inventory questionnaires are used to accelerate the counseling process and to reduce the likelihood of missing important issues that may need to be addressed.

If you choose to enter into counseling with me you can expect that my goal is to treat you with the same love that Jesus displayed in his interactions with people, where grace and compassion are more than nice concepts but relational realities. Whatever struggles you are currently experiencing, know that it is always my goal to handle them with the care and respect they deserve.
